The Economic Research Data Analyst role reports to the Director of Economic Research and Analysis and supports the analysis and presentation of New York State economic conditions, trend analysis, and economic impact analysis, along with data collection and organization and the preparation of data-driven analyses for an executive audience. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing data within tight timelines; developing datasets related to economic sectors and regional/industry-specific data, and compiling information into concise, accessible summaries; translating complex data into clear visual presentations (PowerPoint decks, charts, and other public-facing materials) for broad audiences; tracking key statewide and regional data and producing routine and ad hoc executive briefings such as monthly dashboards and regional snapshots; maintaining and validating data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and reliability; providing data-driven analyses of key economic development issues with potential impact on the New York State economy; contributing to evidence-based economic development policy making; and overseeing special projects as needed. Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of relevant full-time professional experience, with knowledge of economic development-related fields such as community development, economic incentives (loans, grants, tax credits), workforce development, public-private partnerships, research and development, innovation and commercialization, and/or business marketing.
