Michael Foods, Inc., located in Mars Hill, Maine (Pineland Farms area), is seeking a Cost Accountant for its plant. The Cost Accountant will maintain standard costs and reconcile inventories, assist in the monthly close, annual operating plan, KPI reporting, and trend analyses, and monitor process orders related to potato procurement. This role requires strict adherence to Safety, Food Safety & Quality policies, GMPs, and regulatory compliance to ensure product quality. Responsibilities: - Ensure accurate operating reporting throughout the month (trend analysis, plant performance, consumption, labor, etc.). - Monitor order variances and liaise between production and accounting to resolve discrepancies. - Manage SAP inventories, perform cycle counts, post variances, monitor SAP material movements, and track process order variances. - Prepare and maintain standard cost estimates in SAP. - Assist in the month-end close (journal entries, order settlements, variance reporting, KPI reporting). - Assist in the annual operating plan. - Maintain master data: resources, materials, BOMs, and recipes. - Maintain a safe and healthy workplace; uphold safety policies and quality practices; ensure GMPs and sanitary conditions to protect product quality. - Ensure regulatory compliance at all times. - Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent. - Experience in financial accounting or reporting. - Strong oral and written communication skills. - Highly developed analytical and problem-solving abilities. - Proficiency with MS Office
