TEGNA is seeking a Story Desk Editor for WFMY News 2 in Greensboro, North Carolina. This hybrid role combines assignment editing and digital content production to serve as the hub of the newsroom, driving daily editorial execution, curating and producing impactful stories, and ensuring our content connects with audiences across streaming, digital, social, and broadcast platforms. You will lead coverage during breaking news, shape daily story planning, and curate content across platforms, collaborating with reporters, producers, and photojournalists to deliver accurate, relevant, and engaging stories. Key responsibilities include leading newsroom coverage during breaking news, identifying and planning stories that matter to the community, creating and editing engaging digital content, guiding newsroom logistics, editing for accuracy, AP style, digital best practices, fairness and ethical considerations, and enhancing storytelling with multimedia elements. You will use available metrics to inform coverage and improve audience reach, support newsroom operations, and uphold TEGNA’s journalistic standards and values. Requirements include 1–3 years of journalism experience in a local newsroom or digital production, strong news judgment, excellent writing skills, experience with newsroom systems and CMS tools, organizational skills, a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset, and a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or equivalent experience.
