Staff Accountant is an on-site role in Lexington, Massachusetts, United States. The position performs moderately complex accounting functions for the Foundation finance office, including reconciling accounts, posting journal entries, reviewing the general ledger, and preparing financial reports such as balance sheets and budget summaries. Responsibilities include analyzing accounting activities, identifying discrepancies, ensuring compliance with University and Foundation policies, GAAP and GASB, and maintaining documentation and supporting spreadsheets. The role also oversees daily processing of revenue and expenditures, reconciles the Foundation’s corporate card program, and prepares monthly financial reports for University departments. Qualifications: Six years of directly related full-time experience or a bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or closely related field) with two years of relevant experience; proficiency with Microsoft Office; knowledge of GAAP and GASB; familiarity with Workday Finance module is a plus. Preferred: accounting experience in higher education or non-profit settings. Strong analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively in a team and independently; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
