Nienhuis Financial Group is seeking a Staff Accountant for the Kalamazoo, Michigan area. This on-site position may involve occasional day travel to Grandville to serve client needs. Responsibilities include preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, maintaining the general ledger, coding invoices, setting up new accounts, reconciling accounts, and closing monthly books. Additional duties include bank reconciliations, verifying deposits, responding to bank inquiries, reconciling customer accounts, processing accounts payable and ensuring correct account coding, and providing support to external auditors during annual audits. The role may also assist with payroll, manage fixed assets, prepare and adjust trial balances, and perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications include extensive knowledge of general and cost accounting, GAAP adherence, proficiency with accounting software, excellent organizational and communication skills, and strong Excel ability. A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, 3–5 years of accounting experience, 2 years of Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable, and 2 years of payroll experience are required.
