Northrop Grumman is seeking a Senior Principal Data Scientist to support the Product Support Analytics and Innovation team onsite in San Diego, California. This is a full-time, in-office role with the potential to transition to a hybrid schedule in the future depending on project needs. You will architect and build core data logic and develop custom, high-performance machine learning tools from the ground up to derive insights from complex data sets. You will model data, abstract reusable patterns, and write modular, maintainable code. You will collaborate closely with software engineers, analysts, and other data scientists to understand data requirements and deliver integrated solutions. You will write and maintain tests and documentation for data architectures, workflows, and processes. You will champion software engineering best practices within the data domain, including unit and integration testing, CI/CD automation using Git and Docker, and robust documentation. You will tune and optimize complex algorithms within our on-premise infrastructure. The position requires a strong background in machine learning and deep learning, experience with software development or data engineering, and the ability to obtain and maintain a US government Top Secret clearance and SAP. Basic qualifications include a STEM bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a STEM master’s with 6+ years, or a PhD with 4+ years; proficiency in Python and SQL; familiarity with CI/CD and version control.
