About the role

Overview: Academy Sports + Outdoors is seeking a Store Sales Manager for a high-volume, on-site retail location in Gastonia, North Carolina. You will lead daily store performance, oversee Hardlines and Softlines, translate business goals into priorities, and maintain service, merchandising, and operational standards across all departments.

Responsibilities

coach and develop a diverse team of leaders and associates; use sales metrics, labor plans, and inventory insights to drive productivity and profitability; ensure policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements are followed; partner with the Store Director, team leads, and departments to align priorities and deliver a best-in-class store experience; collaborate with corporate and field partners on store initiatives. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred; minimum of 3 years of leadership/management experience; track record of managing departments up to 40 team members; strong customer service and problem-solving skills; understanding of sales performance, labor planning, and profitability; ability to interpret reports and use metrics; working knowledge of inventory systems, payroll processes, and Microsoft Office; ability to work in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment; willingness to obtain required certifications; able to manage firearm sales in compliance with federal/state requirements.
