JSSA is a health and social wellness agency serving the Washington metropolitan area. We are seeking an Assistant Controller to join our growing accounting team in Rockville, Maryland. This position reports to the Controller and is responsible for accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and supporting the Controller with audits, month-end close, and regulatory compliance. This hybrid role begins with five days in the office and may transition to a three-day-per-week hybrid schedule over time. Starting salary range: $125,000 per year.

Responsibilities

Qualifications:

Ensure reconciliations are correct and entries are accurate.
Analyze revenue and expense variances against budget; recommend corrections.
Review monthly grant and contract billings prepared by staff.
Analyze grant and contract expenses in the general ledger.
Manage staff salary allocations and payroll GL accuracy.
Collaborate with the CFO on annual budget preparation; meet with Directors, develop calculations, and analyze expenses.
Prepare month-end management reports.
Prepare fringe benefit and overhead cost rates.
Conduct cost analysis for JSSA homecare.
Assist with year-end close and audit preparation.
Provide training on finance policies.
Supervise grants finance management staff.
Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA strongly preferred but not required.
7+ years of progressive accounting experience and 5 years of supervisory experience.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, grant/contract reporting, and Federal Single Audit requirements.
