Awetomaton is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build enterprise search and discovery capabilities that unify access across disparate artifact types. You will design and operate search and indexing systems that federate discovery across heterogeneous sources, apply modern retrieval and ranking techniques (including vector search and retrieval-augmented generation) to surface relevant data to the right user, and tune relevance and performance at scale. The role is anticipated to start in August 2026 and offers hybrid work, with weekly site visits and customer meetings in Dayton, Ohio. U.S. citizenship is required, and Top Secret clearance is required; sponsorship may be available for highly qualified candidates. Required experience includes a BS in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field, 6+ years building and operating search/information-retrieval platforms at scale, hands-on experience with Elasticsearch/OpenSearch/Solr and vector-based retrieval, and experience applying ML/NLP techniques to search and ranking. Preferred experience includes supporting DoD or IC programs, geospatial data familiarity, access-aware retrieval, metadata management, CI/CD tooling, and Agile development.
