About the role

SpaceX is developing technologies to enable human life on Mars. The Development Test team designs and executes tests for engines, components, and spacecraft in support of Starship, Dragon, Falcon, and Starlink, with a current emphasis on Starship development. The Test Engineer, Oxygen will design, fabricate, and operate test hardware and run test campaigns to ensure the safety and reliability of SpaceX's high‑pressure oxygen systems.

About the role

SpaceX is developing technologies to enable human life on Mars. The Development Test team designs and executes tests for engines, components, and spacecraft in support of Starship, Dragon, Falcon, and Starlink, with a current emphasis on Starship development. The Test Engineer, Oxygen will design, fabricate, and operate test hardware and run test campaigns to ensure the safety and reliability of SpaceX's high‑pressure oxygen systems.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute tests at the material, component, and subsystem levels to evaluate hardware performance and survivability during missions.
Design, fabricate, and operationalize novel test capabilities to assess material and component flammability in high‑pressure oxygen environments.
Facilitate oxygen system risk analysis by defining test strategies, generating data, and collaborating with design engineers to qualify test stands and flight hardware.
Own test campaigns from test plan creation through data review, including activation of new systems and stand equipment design/fabrication.
Direct technicians to fabricate and integrate test articles and stand equipment.
Develop and maintain test procedures, sequences, scripts, configuration files, and software.
Operate and troubleshoot data acquisition and control systems, wiring, and instrumentation (DAQ systems are primarily National Instruments-based).
Operate and troubleshoot fluid and mechanical systems that include high‑pressure gases and rocket propellants (including hypergols and cryogenics) as well as structural components and supporting infrastructur
