Wise is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a background in stream processing to join the Stream Processing team within the Data Squad. The team provides tooling and infrastructure that enables real-time transfers, allowing milliseconds-scale calculations for validation, fraud detection, and anti-money laundering checks, and it also services data movement into our data lake to support data-driven decision making. The role is hands-on, involving design, architecture, implementation, and operation of systems on AWS, and helping product engineers use our tooling by establishing best practices. You should have a deep understanding of stream processing and related technologies, and be able to build and support pipelines used for real-time decisions. Technologies used include Apache Flink, Apache Iceberg, Kubernetes operators, and Kafka Streams. We welcome candidates who may not have every single skill but are eager to learn. Required experience includes: experience with Flink and/or Kafka Streams; production Java and Spring code; infrastructure automation tools; and building and operating distributed systems at scale.
