Speechify is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Data team responsible for data collection and ingestion to power model training. You will help build high-quality datasets at petabyte scale by tightly integrating infrastructure, engineering, and research work. The role focuses on data sourcing, ingestion pipelines, and cloud infrastructure management across GCP, with Terraform for IaC. You will collaborate closely with Scientists to optimize cost, throughput, and data quality to enable next-generation models, and partner with the AI Team and Leadership to shape the dataset roadmap for consumer and enterprise products.

What you’ll do: - Find new sources of audio data and bring them into the ingestion pipeline. - Operate and extend cloud infrastructure for the ingestion pipeline on GCP, using Terraform. - Collaborate with Scientists to push the cost/throughput/quality frontier, delivering richer data at larger scale and lower cost. - Work with the AI Team and Leadership to craft the dataset roadmap.

Ideal candidate: - BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field. - 5+ years of industry software development experience. - Proficiency with Bash and Python in Linux environments. - Proficiency with Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts; experience with at least one major cloud provider (we use GCP). - Experience with web crawlers and large-scale data processing workflows is a plus. - Strong multitasking ability and excellent written and verbal communication.
