Speechify is a fully distributed company with no office, building text-to-speech products that power reading for millions of users across platforms. Speechify’s data and AI teams are expanding, and we are hiring a Software Engineer to work on data collection and infrastructure to support model training. This role focuses on building high-quality datasets at scale through tight integration of infrastructure, engineering, and research. You will join the Data side of the AI team and help shape our ingestion pipeline.

What you’ll do: - Identify and bring in new sources of audio data to feed our ingestion pipeline - Operate and extend the cloud infrastructure for ingestion (currently GCP) managed with Terraform - Collaborate with Scientists to optimize cost, throughput, and data quality at scale for next-generation models - Partner with the AI Team and leadership to define the dataset roadmap powering Speechify’s consumer and enterprise products

Ideal candidate: - BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field - 5+ years of software development experience - Proficiency with bash and Python in Linux environments - Proficiency with Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts; professional experience with at least one major cloud provider (GCP used here) - Experience with web crawlers and large-scale data processing workflows is a plus - Strong written and spoken communication
