This globally distributed team builds a robust, feature-rich search experience and drives improvements to search relevance, including contributions to Lucene. You will contribute to the technical direction and implementation of new search features and enhancements, and you’ll work with a distributed team across emails, GitHub, Zoom, and Slack to deliver fast, scalable, and intuitive software.

What You Will Be Doing: - Lead initiatives within Elasticsearch to deliver an industry-leading search engine with unparalleled speed and relevance. - Build new search features, fix challenging bugs, and improve the codebase; sometimes invent new algorithms or data structures; work close to OS and hardware as needed. - Collaborate with a globally distributed team focused on vector search capabilities. - Be an expert on Elasticsearch search relevance and drive improvements based on data and instincts. - Engage with community members worldwide on issues and pull requests, triaging or handling them as needed. - Write idiomatic modern Java (Elasticsearch is 99.8% Java).
