Based at Rocket Lab’s Long Beach, California campus, the Senior Mechanical Development & Test Engineer II leads end-to-end design, build, test, and execution of complex internal test capabilities. This includes test setups for qualification and large-volume acceptance testing that may require high levels of automation. Hardware tests may involve avionics boxes, complex mechanisms, and fully integrated spacecraft operating in demanding environments.

Responsibilities include: - Leading qualification test campaigns. - Developing and deploying high-volume acceptance test infrastructure on the production floor. - Advising on in-house test capabilities, limits, and future needs. - Managing test projects end-to-end, including resourcing, scheduling, and budgeting. - Hands-on work with test infrastructure implementation and validation. - Collaborating with design and other test engineers to iterate concepts and define test requirements. - Designing complex Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) to support test execution.

Qualifications: - BS in mechanical engineering or a related field; 8+ years of aerospace engineering experience. - Experience with NX Nastran, NX CAD, and Teamcenter; environmental testing; and test automation/data analysis. - Nice-to-have: MS or PhD in mechanical engineering; experience with Confluence/JIRA; Python for automation and data analysis; experience leading teams of engineers and technicians.
