Turnitin is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join the GRaF (Grading and Feedback) team in a remote-first role in the United States. The engineer will design, implement, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services using AWS Lambda and related technologies, contributing to a serverless architecture that powers grading and feedback features. Responsibilities include architecting backend services with Lambda, designing RESTful APIs and event-driven systems, optimizing performance and cost-efficiency, collaborating with QA, Product, UX and Support, and implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions. You will conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers, troubleshoot complex production issues, and continue to grow as a developer.
