The Environmental Health Manager leads Pima County’s efforts to address environmental public health challenges, directing strategic planning, program development, and cross-sector collaboration to mitigate risks such as extreme heat, air and water quality concerns, industrial emissions, and hazardous exposures. The role partners with community organizations, academic institutions, and regulatory agencies to build resilient, equitable public health systems grounded in evidence-based practice. Responsibilities include designing and executing public health programs, aligning initiatives with organizational goals, coordinating resources and staff to keep programs on time and within budget, and securing grant funding to support sustainability and expansion. The position also involves engaging with the community to gather input and gain support for program initiatives, as well as monitoring program performance and ensuring grant compliance. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, public health, public or business administration, or a related field, plus four years of related experience (including two years of direct supervisory experience); or three years of experience with Pima County as a Public Health Program Manager or related management role.
