About the role
Microsoft Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (CHIE) is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Cloud Hardware Manufacturing Engineering (CHME) team. CHIE powers Microsoft's cloud infrastructure, supporting services across Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive, and the Azure platform; the team focuses on scalable software, quality, security, compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability for a globally distributed data center footprint.
Responsibilities
Qualifications:
- Foster a customer-obsessed culture and collaborate with hardware architects to determine key components and end-to-end verifications.
- Envision, design, develop, and deliver software that measures and improves hardware quality at scale.
- Mentor peers to ensure engineering best practices and high-quality code.
- Solve complex problems, identify and drive solutions for systemic issues, creating new designs, architectures, standards and methods for large-scale distributed systems.
- Champion a ‘can do’ attitude across the organization.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 6+ years of engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft security screening requirements (Microsoft Cloud Background Check) upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Preferred: 10+ years of experience shipping, operating, improving large-scale distributed systems; excellent problem-solving and communications skills; strong development skills in C#; e
