The Center for Population Health Data Science (CPHDS), established to catalyze data modernization and link public health, healthcare, and social service data for timely public action, seeks a Machine Learning & Data Engineer to advance data infrastructure and analytics for the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. The role focuses on building integrated data pipelines, enabling real-time and batch data ingestion from diverse sources, and ensuring data governance, quality, and security across the bureau.
Responsibilities include: - Support the development of integrated data pipelines to facilitate data exchange, analysis, surveillance, and reporting. - Collaborate with public health data stewards to translate data requirements for health informatics into integrated data architectures. - Develop and maintain scalable, secure data pipelines and platforms to support real-time and batch data ingestion and processing from diverse internal and external sources. - Guide selection and implementation of cutting-edge data technologies to enhance analytics and data science capabilities. - Promote data governance, quality, and security practices, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards. - Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align data infrastructure improvements with the needs of diverse units.
Qualifications and skills: - 4+ years of experience in data engineering; building and managing scalable data pipelines. - Experience with cloud-based data solutions (Azure, AWS, GCP); programming in Python or R; Linux; and big data technologies (H
