About the role

NYU Grossman School of Medicine is seeking a Data Analyst to support the City Health Dashboard and Congressional District Health Dashboard projects. The analyst will analyze health metrics across federal, county, city, census tract, and census block geographies, aggregate geographic data, and compute population health indicators that align with administrative boundaries, with a focus on R programming and geospatial analysis.

This is a hybrid position based in Midtown Manhattan, New York, and candidates must be willing to commute there at least once per week.

Responsibilities

Qualifications:

Retrieve, analyze, and evaluate health metric data across geographic boundaries for project websites, considering sample size, bias, and timeliness.
Explore new geospatial calculation methods, monitor boundary updates, and generate geographic boundaries for website releases.
Document workflows and methodological challenges in generating health metric estimates across geographies.
Present analytic processes and results to team members.
Contribute to data visualizations and narrative materials, and draft sections of reports, blogs, journal articles, and policy briefs as needed.
Support data infrastructure through background research, code development, and workflow testing; maintain R functions and SQL databases.
Obtain and wrangle data, write code, and perform metric validation as part of new metric research.
