Accountant III – Finance & Risk Management Work arrangement: Hybrid (in-office in Tucson; the posting notes the position cannot be remote)

Pima County's Finance & Risk Management Department is seeking a skilled Accountant III to join the Financial Control & Reporting (FC&R) Division. The FC&R Division is responsible for compiling, issuing, and reviewing interim and year-end financial reports and GAAP note disclosures for inclusion in the County's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). Key duties include preparing interim and year-end financial reports and note disclosures; maintaining and analyzing general ledger accounts; preparing and posting journal entries; performing reconciliations; developing ad-hoc reports; supporting special projects; and ensuring compliance with accounting methods and policies.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or a closely related field, plus two years of professional accounting or financial statement auditing experience. A Master's degree or CPA designation may substitute for one year of required experience. Alternatively, one year of internal experience as Accountant II – Central Services may qualify.

Preferred qualifications: CPA; proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and formulas); experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, financial data analysis, and capital asset accounting; experience in a governmental accounting environment.

Licenses/clearances: Some positions may require a valid Arizona Class D dr
