Strategic Weapon Systems (SWS) Test Engineer is responsible for proactively planning and executing testing of the Columbia-class Strategic Weapon System. This on-site role in Groton, Connecticut supports 2nd or 3rd shift. Responsibilities include conducting job hazard analyses and safety briefings to protect personnel and equipment, enforcing proper tagout and re-entry control procedures, and certifying prerequisites before testing. You will evaluate recorded data for compliance with test procedures, coordinate testing across interfacing departments, and lead test execution while ensuring complete data collection and certification. The role also involves reviewing Test Procedures for accuracy, documenting delays and non-conformances, and serving as a SWS Test Director and Shift Test Director as assigned. Additional duties include coordinating testing of piping systems and tanks (hydrostatic tests, cleanliness flushes, and operational tests), hydraulic operations (missile tube muzzle hatches, valve operations, and timing of control valves), electrical cable integrity checks, and tracking installations via Test Inspection Reports. The candidate will support GFE component installation and inspections and may participate in extended testing durations and shift work to minimize schedule impacts. Qualification requirements include a minimum of 2 years of system test experience or a mechanical/technical background, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
