SpaceX is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer for the Starlink program, based in Hawthorne, California. You will upgrade distributed systems to be sharded and geo-redundant across multiple data centers, and advance deployment, monitoring, and alerting infrastructure to support a multi-region environment. You will manage petabyte-scale bare-metal compute clusters and collaborate with engineers across programs to create highly operable, scalable, and maintainable products. You will engage throughout the software development lifecycle—from inception to design, deployment, operation, and iterative refinement—while focusing on performance bottlenecks and improvement techniques. Basic qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or a related scientific discipline and 5 years of software development experience; or 7+ years of professional experience building software with site reliability or DevOps in lieu of a degree. Experience with Linux operating systems is required. Preferred skills include 5+ years of site reliability or DevOps experience; Kubernetes and Istio for on-premise deployment; experience with streaming data and analytics platforms such as Apache Kafka, Spark, HBase, HDFS, Flink; experience troubleshooting hardware and network-layer issues; programming in Python, C#, Java, Scala, Go or similar languages; and a strong understanding of version control, testing, CI/CD, build, deployment, and monitoring. Additional requirements include willingness to work extended hours and weekends when needed.
