Senior Cost and Project Accountant I based at Rocket Lab's Solar Manufacturing facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico, will be responsible for contract revenue, cost of sales, and inventory, maintaining accurate revenue and cost of sales for significant customer contracts. The Senior Cost & Project Accountant I reports to the Program Accounting Manager and collaborates with the accounting team and cross-functional partners across the organization.

What you'll get to do: - Manage project revenue and cost recognition - Update and reconcile customer contract backlog and contract assets and liabilities - Track and reconcile inventory - Support the EAC (estimate-at-completion) cycle for project estimates and revenue recognition - Review contracts using the five-step 606 revenue recognition standards - Set up programs and charge codes in the ERP system - Initiate process improvement initiatives - Investigate accounting irregularities - Month-end activities: journal entries to recognize OT and PIT revenue and cost of sales; reconcile contract assets and liabilities; adjust inventory as needed - Document revenue and cost of sales processes to meet SOX controls - Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting requests - Develop project cost processes as required
