Aalyria is seeking a Software Engineer to build the AI platform layer of our engineering organization. This is a hands-on role focused on designing, shipping, and operating internal AI products and platform services, including AI chat and agent interfaces, retrieval over code and docs, AI-enabled developer workflows, sandboxed execution environments, and integration with our cloud infrastructure (GCP, GKE, Vertex AI, GitLab). The role operates in a regulated environment (CMMC, DoD Impact Levels, FedRAMP), so you will collaborate with our security and compliance teams to translate constraints into robust, auditable systems. You will own integrations end to end, ensuring reliability, security, and observability. Responsibilities include building and extending an internal AI chat and agent platform backed by Vertex AI models with SSO and access policies, enabling AI-native software engineering workflows in GitLab, creating sandboxes with humans and hardware in the loop, implementing AI observability and cost tracking, developing and maintaining LLM-powered systems across engineering and operations, owning the AI gateway layer (model routing, credentials, access policy, telemetry), monitoring and upgrading the AI stack, and working with security to define boundary requirements and guardrails at design time.
