Atomic Machines is transitioning People Operations from an early-stage startup toward scalable infrastructure. This role owns the mandate end to end: the employee lifecycle (onboarding, benefits, payroll, leave, and immigration/regulatory compliance), People Programs (performance management and development), People Systems (HRIS and tooling decisions with a pragmatic AI-forward lens), and the Atomizer Experience (day-to-day site life across Emeryville and Santa Clara). The objective is to build reliable, modern processes and an experience that scales beyond 200+ employees across multiple sites, with AI-enabled tools integrated into the foundations while enabling custom automation where appropriate. The role reports to the VP of People and partners with the executive team, while leading and coaching the existing People Operations team through maturation. Responsibilities include owning end-to-end employee lifecycle management, transitioning benefits and payroll from a PEO to in-house administration; establishing operational rigor with process documentation and data integrity; executing core People Programs; evaluating and selecting HRIS and other systems; and ensuring a consistent Atomizer Experience across sites.
