Speechify is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Data side of our AI team to own all aspects of data collection to support model training. We build high-quality datasets at petabyte scale through a tight integration of infrastructure, engineering, and research. This remote-only role is based in The Hague, Netherlands, and you will join a 100% distributed team with no central office. You will work with frontend and backend engineers, AI researchers, and others to collect data for Speechify’s models. What you’ll do: identify new audio data sources and bring them into our ingestion pipeline; operate and extend the cloud infrastructure for ingestion pipelines (currently on GCP and managed with Terraform); collaborate with scientists to improve cost, throughput, and quality, delivering richer data at larger scale and lower cost; coordinate with the AI Team and leadership to define the AI Team’s dataset roadmap powering Speechify’s next-generation products. An ideal candidate should have a BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field, 5+ years of industry software development experience, proficiency with Bash/Python in Linux environments, Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code, and professional experience with at least one major Cloud Provider (we use GCP); experience with web crawlers and large-scale data processing workflows is a plus; ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities; strong written and verbal communication skills.
