The Controller is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the hotel’s accounting function, including monthly financial statements, budgeting, and cash forecasting. Responsibilities include timely month-end close, accounts payable and accounts receivable processing, cash handling, bank reconciliations, maintenance of house banks and petty cash, and inventory control. The Controller ensures adherence to internal controls and compliance with state and federal laws, and oversees tax filings. Additional duties include reporting on key financial and operational performance indicators, analyzing operations to improve efficiency and profitability, and coordinating with the Corporate Accounting Team to enhance processes. The role may assist in the annual budgeting cycle and safeguard the hotel’s contracts and agreements. Requirements include a minimum of five years in general ledger accounting, at least two years in accounting supervision, a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, proficiency with automated accounting systems (M3 and/or Profit Sword a plus), and advanced Excel skills. Strong verbal and written communication, ability to work with various management levels, and attention to detail are essential.
