CDDS (Counter-Drone Defense Systems) develops high-performance counter-drone technology, including low-collateral kinetic interceptors designed to neutralize threatening UAVs and protect critical assets. We are seeking an experienced Drone Test Engineer to join our team near Zurich, Switzerland. Responsibilities include taking full ownership of field tests and customer demonstrations, advancing development on the low-level control stack, and tuning and improving the current software stack to maximize performance. You will write high-quality, maintainable code under tight CPU and memory constraints, extend and customize the PX4 flight stack, and build and tune our low-level flight controller. You will organize, lead, and conduct field tests and be responsible for the technical aspects of customer demonstrations. This role requires the ability to travel to test locations worldwide and work in a fast-paced, hands-on startup environment with shifting priorities. Qualifications include a MSc in Robotics, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or similar) with a strong academic record, strong C++ programming skills, and experience with PX4, Betaflight, or iNAV or similar flight stacks. You should have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex systems, and be open to frequent travel. Nice-to-have skills include flight experience with UAVs and experience with ROS2, MPC, RL, trajectory optimization, computer vision and optical sensors, fast-moving object interception/high-dynamics control, and simulation frameworks like Gazebo or Isaac Sim; a background in drone
