Zipline is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Maps Platform team and help build the mapping infrastructure powering Zipline's autonomous flight operations. You will ensure map data is fast, accurate, and reliable for both human workflows (map editors, operator dashboards, regulatory UIs) and autonomous systems (routing and onboard software). The role blends backend, data, platform engineering, and user-interface considerations, with end-to-end production ownership. Responsibilities include designing pipelines to process and serve large-scale geospatial datasets with strict requirements for accuracy, consistency, and availability; owning data ingestion through production services; and collaborating across autonomy, routing, simulation, and operations. You should bring experience building and operating large-scale data pipelines, a track record shipping reliable services and APIs, an ownership mindset, and comfort working with cross-functional teams. Experience with geospatial systems or GIS tooling is a plus but not required. Our current stack includes Go, Python, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Kafka, and AWS, and we value engineers who learn quickly and apply AI-assisted workflows to amplify productivity while maintaining high data quality.
