Broadcom’s Mainframe Software Division is seeking a talented Software Engineer to design, build, and support RESTful APIs and database-backed services within a Mainframe Cybersecurity and Compliance context. The role is based in Lisle, Illinois and is an on-site position. Responsibilities include creating scalable RESTful APIs to enable seamless integration between frontend systems and backend mainframe components, writing clean, well-documented code, and participating in code reviews and continuous improvement of development processes. You will actively participate in Agile activities, including iteration planning, refinement, and sprint reviews, and collaborate with customers on support, demonstrations, and feedback sessions. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 8+ years of related experience; or a Master's degree with 6+ years, or PhD with 3+ years. Candidates should have 5+ years of Java development with emphasis on RESTful API design and Spring/Spring Boot, strong SQL database knowledge, API security best practices, and experience with API testing/documentation tools (Swagger). Familiarity with frontend technologies (React, Angular) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins) is desirable. Additional Mainframe skills (z/OS, Unix/USS, SMP/E, z/OSMF, Endevor, reading system dumps, TSO/ISPF) are a plus.
